Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” Tops Billboard Hot 100 Chart for Second Week in a Row

For the second week in a row, Cardi B‘s hit song “Bodak Yellow” has topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The news comes a week after “Bodak Yellow” became the first song by a female solo rapper to top the chart in 19 years. The New York rapper also became only the second female hip-hop artist to ever reach No. 1 by herself. Lauryn Hill had previously achieved the feat with “Doo Wop (That Thing)” in November 1998.

Cardi’s hit song was inspired by Kodak Black’s “No Flockin,” something the rapper has admitted to, but during a recent concert, she called out any critics who claimed she was stealing flows.

“And for anybody that telling me, ’Oh bitch, you copied Kodak flow, you copied this and that flow.’ So what bitch? So what? I’ma sound like all your favorite rappers,” she told the audience. “I’ma take all they flows and I’ma body it bitch. One day I’ma sound like Kodak, the next day I’ma sound like Meek Mill, the next day I’ma sound like Migos. I don’t give a fuck,” she continued.

Up next for Cardi, the rapper is gearing up for the release of her debut album but is having a tough time settling on a release date. Originally slated to drop in October, the rapper told Power 105’s The Breakfast Club that she is putting pressure on herself to match the success of “Bodak Yellow.”

“I wanted to drop next month,” she said. “Every single time I think I got all the 10 songs I’m like, I’m buggin’. These ain’t it. It’s just like, damn I’m competing with myself. I’m competing with the goddamn No. 2 record [on the Billboard Hot 100] and stuff.”
